The area

Svoronata is a charming village on the southern side of Kefalonia, in the heart of Livathos area. The village is located only 9 km away from Argostoli, the Capital City of Kefalonia, and also extremely close to the Airport of the island.  A village with interesting samples of local architecture, due to the fact the many of its buildings survived the devastating earthquake of 1953. Svoronata is the home of famous craftsmen & blacksmiths whose craftsmanships are unique pieces of art and adorn the Village. A stroll in the village can convince you.

The wider area of Livathos is well-developed and there’s a plethora of tourist infrastructure like Restaurants, sea-side Taverns, Villas, Hotels, bars, supermarkets and Car Rental Companies. Within a very close distance from the village there’s a variety beautiful beaches, including Ai-Helis, Avithos, Ammes, Platis & Makris Gialos, St. Thomas and Paliolinos.

  • Makris & Platis Gialos Beach

    Makris Gialos is one of the most popular beaches of Kefalonia. It’s a sandy beach located just 3 km from Argostoli and with Platis Gialos, located right next, are the most preferred destinations for swimming for the inhabitants of Argostoli.

  • Ai Chelis Beach

    Ai Chelis Beach is an organized beach located south and close to Argostoli. Very Easy to access via Svoronata, and the well signed directions lead you from the village to the beach easily. Right above the beach there’s an available free parking space. The morphological features of the beach compose the perfect environment for sand activities.

  • Avithos Beach

    Avithos beach is located in the area “Livathos” area near Argostoli and in order to reach it you need to drive through the Village of Svoronata. It is a beautiful, well-organized beach ideal for families, Reddish-Golden sand that has a beach bar, sunbeds & umbrellas, shower and lifeguard.

  • St. Thomas Beach

    Agios Thomas consists of two sandy beaches which are the closest to the village of Karavados and 15 km from Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. Both of these bays are surrounded by enchanting lush greenery and are quite pleasant.

  • Avithos Beach

    Avithos beach is located in the area “Livathos” area near Argostoli and in order to reach it you need to drive through the Village of Svoronata. It is a beautiful, well-organized beach ideal for families, Reddish-Golden sand that has a beach bar, sunbeds & umbrellas, shower and lifeguard.

  • St. George Castle

    The Castle of Saint George is located 7 km southeast of Argostoli, above the village Peratata, Kefalonia. It has a polygonal shape and covers an area of 16,000 sq. m. This Castle was originally built in the 12th century by the Byzantines but it was mostly the Venetians who gave it its present form. In fact, this Castle was the capital of Kefalonia before Argostoli was made the new capital in 1757.

  • St. Thomas Beach

    Agios Thomas consists of two sandy beaches which are the closest to the village of Karavados and 15 km from Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. Both of these bays are surrounded by enchanting lush greenery and are quite pleasant.

  • Lourdas Beach

    Lourdas beach is one of the largest bays in Kefalonia and stretches over 2km. Lourdas is on the south coast of the island, around 16km from the capital Argostoli. Both sandy and pebbly the beach itself has everything you need including sun loungers and umbrellas as well as watersports and other activities.

If you like to explore, we suggest you visit Lord Byron’s rock in Lakithra Village. It is a place where Lord Byron used to go to seek inspiration for his poems because of the peaceful scenery and the spectacular view of the Ionian Sea and Zakynthos Island. A visit to the nearby castle of St. George is also worth it, a place of high historical interest because it used to be the first capital of Kefalonia Island.

In the close by village of Ntomata, there is one of the oldest churches of Kefalonia dedicated to Virgin Mary with an impressive entrance and golden temple. Patriarch Gregory the fifth is buried there. In the church of Svoronata, which is one of the the biggest on the island, you can admire beautiful frescoes and Hagiographies on the walls.

Villa Chrisi is located within the village of Svoronata. As you cross the village’s main road, you take a turn right towards Ai Helis Beach, the on your right hand you Meet Acropolis Restaurant. Then, take the dirt road on the right of the Restaurant and you will find the villa after roughly 70 meters.
